1. Information We Collect

Account Information

• Email address (collected during registration via secure email verification)
• Username and display name
• Profile avatar and accent color preferences
• Bio text you choose to provide

Prediction & Gaming Data

• Game Coins balance, XP, level, and tier progression
• Prediction history: match ID, selected team, wager amount, odds, outcome
• Challenge progress and badge unlock status
• Favorite games and followed teams

Community Content

• Forum discussions: title, body text, category
• Comments and replies on discussions and matches
• Likes and interaction data
• Content flagged by AI moderation

Device & Technical Data

• Device type, operating system, and app version
• Push notification tokens (for delivering push notifications)
• Crash reports: error type, stack trace, device info (stored in crash_logs table)
• Network connectivity status

Usage Analytics

• Pages visited, features used, and session duration
• Match interactions (views, predictions placed)
• Search queries (stored locally on device, not server-side)
• Ad interaction data (impressions, rewarded ad completions)

2. How We Use Your Information

Service Delivery

• Authenticate your identity and manage your account securely
• Process predictions, track Game Coins, and calculate leaderboard rankings
• Deliver push notifications for match reminders, prediction results, friend requests, and score alerts
• Sync offline predictions when connectivity is restored

Personalization

• Customize your Arena feed based on favorite games and followed teams
• Display relevant match recommendations and “For You” content
• Adapt UI theme (dark/light) and accent color preferences

Content Moderation

• Analyze forum posts and comments using AI-powered moderation to detect harassment, hate speech, spam, and NSFW content
• Flag or remove content that violates community guidelines
• Maintain a safe community environment

Advertising

• Display banner, interstitial, and rewarded video advertisements through Google AdMob
• Google AdMob receives anonymized device identifiers (IDFA/GAID) for ad targeting
• No personal account data (email, username, predictions) is shared with ad networks

Improvement & Diagnostics

• Analyze crash reports to identify and fix bugs
• Monitor API health and latency via health check system
• Evaluate feature usage to prioritize development
• Measure ad performance and optimize placement

3. Third-Party Data Sources & APIs

Esports Data Providers

• Esports Data API: Live match scores, team rosters, tournament brackets, player profiles, and odds data. Only match IDs and game slugs are processed — no personal user data is sent.
• Escharts: Live broadcast viewership data and streaming analytics. No user data is shared.
• Cito API: Team statistics and player performance data. Only game IDs and team names are queried.
• BALLDONTLIE API: Supplemental player data for CS2. Only player nicknames are searched.
• Liquipedia: Team and player wiki data via public API.

Advertising

• Google AdMob: Serves banner, interstitial, and rewarded video ads. AdMob collects device advertising identifiers, IP address, and general device info for ad delivery. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

Infrastructure

• GameRank Cloud: Database, authentication, file storage, and edge functions. All data is stored with row-level security (RLS) policies ensuring users can only access their own data.
• Push Notification Service: Push notification delivery and over-the-air updates.

Each third-party service operates under its own privacy policy. We recommend reviewing them independently. All API calls are proxied through our Edge Functions to prevent exposure of API keys to client devices.

4. Data Storage & Security

Security Measures

• All data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.3
• Data at rest is encrypted using AES-256 on GameRank Cloud infrastructure
• Database tables enforce Row-Level Security (RLS) policies, ensuring authenticated users can only read/write their own data
• API keys for third-party services are stored as server-side secrets in Edge Functions, never exposed to client code
• Authentication tokens use JWT with automatic refresh

Data Locations

• Account data, predictions, forum posts, and game profiles are stored on GameRank Cloud database
• Profile avatars are stored in GameRank Cloud Storage (profile-images bucket, publicly readable)
• Push notification tokens are stored in the device_tokens table with user-scoped RLS
• Cached data (match scores, news articles, search history) is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage and can be cleared at any time

Data Retention

• Account data is retained until you request deletion
• Forum posts and comments are retained until manually deleted by the author or removed by moderation
• Crash logs are retained for 90 days for diagnostic purposes
• Push notification tokens are automatically cleaned up when you log out

5. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the following rights:

• Right to Access: View all data associated with your account at any time through the app. Request a machine-readable export of your personal data by contacting us.
• Right to Rectification: Update your display name, bio, avatar, and accent color in Edit Profile. Correct any inaccurate personal information.
• Right to Erasure (“Right to Be Forgotten”): Delete your account and all associated data (predictions, coin_transactions, coin_gifts, comments, discussions, friend_requests, team_follows, user_follows, device_tokens, and crash_logs) by contacting privacy@gamerank.gg. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.
• Right to Data Portability: Request a copy of your data in JSON format.
• Right to Object / Opt-Out: Disable push notifications at the OS level or in app Settings. Opt out of personalized advertising by adjusting your device ad tracking settings (iOS: Settings > Privacy > Tracking; Android: Settings > Google > Ads). Clear local cached data in Settings.
• Right to Restrict Processing: You may request that we limit processing of your personal data while a dispute or correction is pending.

CCPA-Specific Rights

• Right to know what personal information is collected, used, and shared
• Right to delete personal information
• Right to opt-out of sale of personal information — GameRank does NOT sell personal data
• Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

6. Cookies & Tracking

GameRank is a mobile application and does not use browser cookies. However, the following tracking technologies may be present:

• Google AdMob SDK: May use device advertising identifiers (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) for ad personalization. You can reset or disable these identifiers in your device settings.
• AsyncStorage: Local key-value storage on your device for caching preferences, search history, and offline data. This data never leaves your device unless explicitly synced.
• Push Notification Tokens: Unique tokens registered for push notification delivery. These are device-specific and do not track browsing activity.

We do not use third-party analytics SDKs (e.g., Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel) in the current version.

7. Children

GameRank is rated 12+ (Simulated Gambling — virtual currency only, no real-money transactions).

• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age (16 in the EU/EEA under GDPR)
• If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately at privacy@gamerank.gg and we will delete the data within 72 hours
• Parents or guardians may contact us to request deletion of their child’s account

8. International Data Transfers

GameRank’s backend infrastructure may process data in regions outside your country of residence. Where applicable:

• We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for transfers from the EU/EEA to third countries
• Data processing agreements are in place with our infrastructure providers
• We ensure that transferred data receives equivalent protection regardless of location

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors.

• Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification or a prominent banner
• Minor changes take effect immediately upon posting
• The “Last updated” date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised
• Continued use of GameRank after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy
• We recommend reviewing this policy periodically
